Hi all,
Do any of you have experiences navigating foreign countries, mainly Middle Eastern countries like Egypt, while being blind? I live in the U.S. now but will be traveling to Egypt this summer and am looking into living there some time in the future. I have visited, but only for a short time. Can a country like Egypt be traveled independently without sighted assistance as I travel in the U.S.? Here in the U.S., I take public fixed route buses to get places and am a relatively good cane traveler. I have heard that the streets in Egypt are difficult to cross due to less traffic laws and other things, but I am not sure how true that is. Also, could a blind person live independently in Egypt as I do here in the U.S.?
It would be good to hear from those of you that have traveled abroad or live abroad, especially in Egypt. I have only heard about it from a sighted perspective, so it would be great if I could get some input from a blind person who has experienced being in the country.
Thank you.
I want to go to check out whatever is left of the pyramids. That stuff has always interested me.
